Got a travel buddy?

Couple Positions in China
Schools in China are happy to hire couples and to us this is welcome news!

In contrast with Korea, where couples can sometimes have a harder time finding a school, China seems to approach this very differently. This is very refreshing to see.

Travelling is fun, of course, but it can be even better if you get to experience it with your partner!

Why we are happy to help couples:
  • Couples do not get home sick as often, since they have their support with them
  • Couples tend to plan ahead and be well prepared
  • Couples save A LOT of money each month, since cost of living can be shared
  • Saving money allows them to go on amazing vacations, either during their contracts or before they head home. How does a 3 month South East Asia trip sound at the end of the contract?
  • Housing can be more affordable for couples in China
  • You pick your apartment so you can decide what size and budget is best for you. You can chose your area as well, which can sometimes save money as well.

Over the years we have placed many wonderful couples, many of whom we consider friends to this day. Since Aggie and I went to Korea as a married couple (even though we had a child, and most don’t when they start this journey), we were always able to relate to couples embarking on this adventure. We even found out that some of our single teachers met in Korea and got married! So, you never know what will happen when you take this leap!

Whether you are happily married, in a serious relationship, or coming with a close friend and you want to be in the same school and city, we have found this to be a positive rather than a detriment.

With all this said, most schools are just as happy to hire single teachers as well. It is nice to see though, that couples can have the same chances at finding a great placement as single teachers.
